...I was tall for my age, and I was wearing heels, so I had to lean over to peer through the window of the front door to see the curb where I normally waited for the school bus with Harley. But it was 93 degrees with 93% humidity, and I had just spent an hour meticulously straightening my hair with a hot iron. I couldn’t risk exposing myself to the elements.
