The Collaboration with the Vanderbilt Museum Planetarium included creative and technical research and experimentation with planetarium director Dave Bush in order to create original star projections for the immersive multisensory full dome show, A Guided Sublimation. Collaboration activities included:

  • in-person and remote meetings
  • in-person tool testing and technical experimentation
  • creative collaboration and production for star projector sequences for hybrid Geministar III star projector
  • documentation of research and production

About the Collaboration

The Collaboration with the Vanderbilt Museum Planetarium was part of the museum's commission for a new artwork made expressly for the Vanderbilt's planetarium. This creative technology and science collaboration with planetarium director, Dave Bush, explored planetariums and star projectors as poetic devices for immersive multisensory experiences.

The Vanderbilt Museum’s Charles and Helen Reichert Planetarium offers cutting-edge programming in the most technologically advanced theater of its kind on Long Island. The Planetarium’s William and Mollie Rogers Theater includes a 60-foot dome, 147 oversized comfort seats, a powerful 5.1 surround sound system, a hybrid Geministar III star projector with fulldome video projection.
