Multimedia artist Laura Splan will lead this hands-on workshop in using Adobe InDesign for creating artist publications including zines, catalogs, and books. Participants will explore the core features including creating documents, working with graphics and color, creating and styling text, and exporting for print and screen. Bring your own laptop with any version of Adobe InDesign already installed.
POWRPLNT is a network of artists committed to providing digital arts education and access for all. Our mission is to provide the resources, mentorship, and education to thrive in the creative economy today. POWRPLNT organizes digital art educational workshops and activations to engage youth and artists in interest driven learning focused on democratizing and supporting diverse leaders within arts and technology. Our first brick and mortar space in Bushwick (Brooklyn) existed as an open-to-all computer workspace and venue for classes, art shows and performances. While we re-locate this year into a new space our classes are hosted virtually and in guest spaces. Our courses, often led by local artists, focus on tools and techniques of digital art production. Community participants are able to attend classes for free, but are encouraged to support with donations where possible. POWRPLNT empowers individuals to bridge the digital divide, by organizing community interactions that elevate digital literacy and encourage expression via technology. Technology is a right, not a privilege.
